Developers hack the night away!
Nearly 70 app developers participated at the 12 hour overnight Ford Dev hackathon on Monday Sept 8th following the full day learning sessions. Global Ford Dev Team members supported, while energy drinks fueled developers who hacked the night away. Working with AppLink documentation and resources (SDKs and TDKs) along with 80 data sets released by the city of Los Angeles, participants worked individually and as teams, to create innovative solutions for connecting the automobile to the rest of everyday life.

The Hackathon kicked off with a bonus demo session led by Aaron DeGrow, Ford App Development Engineer where he showed the available functionality using actual AppLink code such as adding AppLink connectivity to your app, adding essential AppLink features, supporting different SYNC variants, adding menu and voice commands, adding UI with buttons and interactions, connecting with and using a Test Development Kit (TDK).

Developers hacked away all night and then continued to work and receive support from the AppLink team throughout the rest of the CTIA conference week in the Ford CCE exhibit space. The resulting innovation gave birth to a dozen new app ideas which were presented on stage for the public to see during the semi-finals of the Ford Connected Car, Connected City App Pursuit on Thursday September 11th. Ten entries were chosen to compete in the Pursuit finals November 18th-20th and will be invited to display finished entries in the Ford exhibit during the CCE at the LA Auto show.
