MakeItDriveable (Virtually) in October 2020!

It’s been 9 months since MakeItDriveable 2019 in Lisbon, and if you’d told us THEN what we all know NOW, we wouldn’t have believed you. So, first, let’s get the obvious out of the way.

This year’s MakeItDriveable Challenge will be virtual—held 20–21 October, 2020.

We won’t be sacrificing any of the usual agenda or experience, however. And because you won’t have to travel, it’s going to be easier than ever to “get in the car” and present an idea for the Connected Car or an iOS/Android application.

In its 7th year, MakeItDriveable is an opportunity to engage directly with Ford and to potentially fast-track your idea to market. If accepted to attend, you will have a chance to meet with Ford executives, engineers, business teams, and invited guests.

We’ll also have several virtual workshop sessions that will occur throughout the event. (More information on these will be announced soon.)

And as always, we’re looking for ideas that are ‘Beamed-In’—delivered directly to vehicles via the embedded modem—or ‘Brought-In’ to the vehicle via a customer’s smartphone and SmartDeviceLink.

Who should apply?

The ‘Beamed-In’ Challenge is for you if interested in enhancing capabilities and delivering content or services that tap vehicle connectivity via embedded modem. Remember, some new Ford vehicles are now connected to 4G data networks and (with customers’ consent) have the capability to deliver a whole range of beneficial services.

More interested in delivering an experience directly to the driver using Ford’s in-vehicle infotainment system? Consider putting your iOS/Android-based SDL-enabled app up for the ‘Brought-in’ Challenge.

No matter which you choose, consider the Challenges as a way to ’fast track’ your engagement and opportunity to work with Ford.

Not to mention the prizes—winners of each challenge will take home €2,500.

But wait… there’s more!

And in case you’re worried that October is so far away, we’ve got you covered!

We’re also planning a series of Virtual City Tours events to replace the MakeItDriveable City Tour we all know and love.

First stop? Barcelona/Madrid on 25th June, 2020. Get your virtual tickets here.

Also in the works are virtual stops in
